Also, a lot of really cool software is available for one operating system alone, e.g., some stuff only runs on a Mac, or only on Windows… we want really compelling software to run on all platforms. We don’t penalize our customers for wanting to use one OS over the other: Windows, Mac OSX, Linux, Android, or BlackBerry.

You should be able to collaborate, communicate, and consume content regardless of the operating system you like, and machine you use (PC, Mac). You should be able to use your browser, mobile device, laptop or desktop in unison, and in any way you choose in order to collaborate and communicate using our software and services.

We are inspired by this quote from Ferdinand Porsche:

I couldn’t find the sports car of my dreams, so I built it myself.

Just like Dr. Porsche couldn’t find the sports car of his dreams, we couldn’t find the software of our dreams. So, like Dr. Porsche, we decided to build it ourselves. And just like Dr. Porsche, we engineer our software for excellence. And most importantly, we engineer our software for happiness.

Our Vision and Spirit

Our goal is to create compelling software that’s easy/intuitive to use by ‘novice users’, people who aren’t nerds and geeks, and who aren’t computer engineers.

However, we won’t sacrifice functionality that may be used by ‘advanced users’ either. We want to create good looking software as well; however, form must follow function. We also want to remove all the technical hurdles that keep you, our customer, from your connected-digital-lifestyle-experience.

This means that we will leverage desktop apps, browser based apps, mobile apps, etc. where they are appropriate, to give you the best user experience possible on these Internet connected devices! At the same time, we want to give you functionality when you’re not connected to the Internet as well.

What’s in a name?

It’s an homage to Pixar Animation Studios and John Lasseter, and their history and how it’s tied to the "The Brave Little Toaster" . People tend to be afraid of change, even for the better; We embrace change, and acknowledge that it is the only constant in this life.

We strive to create things that are better and different, in every aspect of what we do: our technology, customer service, business practices, and strategies. We always look at the bigger picture, and try not to lose sight of the forest for the trees.

And we never pay too much attention to the unit cost of anything, because we understand and appreciate that when done right, the whole should always be greater than the sum of individual parts.

While blazing our own trail, we also realize that we are all connected, in our society, in nature, and we never fail to leverage these natural alignments wherever we may find them, and work towards adding value to everyone. Wherever we go, we want to light up the darkness.

Our Technology

Our software is built using the latest in SOA (service oriented architecture) and cloud computing technology on the server. This means that you will get applications that are highly secure in how they communicate over the Internet, and are fast and reliable as well.

For our browser based apps, we use AJAX (Javascript and XML). For our desktop apps, we use Java 6 technology, which allows us to create software that can run on Windows, Mac, and Linux. For our mobile apps, we use BlackBerry and Android technologies. Additionally, we support geocoding, to provide you with location based services (these add value depending on the property).

We also support P2P technology, to allow really cool local collaboration (e.g., when people are connected to a network in their home, or at Starbucks). Our products run on Windows, Mac, Linux, BlackBerry, and Android platforms.

Our Art

We consider our software to be living art. However, in addition to really compelling technology, we have specialized content that caters to specific verticals or interest groups or communities.

This content is part of what makes us very different in what we offer to you, the consumer. We don’t create generic content; we find people who are subject matter experts about specific subjects, that a community can be built around, and get them to create knowledgeable content; for e.g., all the content for Fasterlap, is generated by experienced track enthusiasts.

In addition to specialized content, we bring you a visually compelling user experience in our applications – they use 2D and 3D graphics and animations to make your user experience richer and more compelling. It’s easier to use an app or service, when it’s not ugly, and does what it’s supposed to do!
