Wicked vs Free

Why Wicked might not be for you…

Don’t want to pay 83 cents/month for Wicked? No worries, stick with the free stuff. Wicked will still be available as a premium product, for people who want personalized, excellent, timely customer service & seamless integration of style, art, and technology with their mobile lifestyle. We’ve compiled a list of quotes from people who don’t like Wicked, simply because they’ve never used it, and/or it’s not free:

“All software & services should be free, and I shouldn’t have to pay for anything in life.” – Free is not a sustainable business model for everything. If you think all software and services should be free, Wicked is not for you ;) “What’s a ‘security’?” - Wicked optimizes and secures all communication between the BlackBerry and the cloud. This only matters if you care about security/performance/bandwidth consumption, battery/CPU/memory usage ;)
“I love installing crap software that makes my BlackBerry unresponsive, and unstable, and then I look forward to wiping it and manually re-enter my settings.” – Wicked saves your blog profiles in the cloud. This means if you switch BlackBerry devices, or have to upgrade your OS, or have to wipe it clean, no worries, you can have access to your blogs in seconds, after you log back into Wicked. Wicked even saves the username/password so that when you come back, you don’t even have to sign in again. Wicked also allows you to login simultaneous from 3 BlackBerry devices, and it syncs your user profile between all 3 in a matter of minutes! These are a few of the hundreds of features in Wicked. Don’t need the convenience? Wicked is not for you ;) “I love messing with settings, especially network settings. I would also love it if my car came with a hand crank. Not that I would ever consider paying for a car, of course.” – Wicked automatically figures out your location based on CellID data, and assisted GPS, there are no settings to tweak for this. Wicked seamlessly switches between BIS-B and WiFi, always preferring WiFi over cellular. You don’t have to tell Wicked which transport to use. It figures it out, and it switches between them seamlessly as you’re on the go, so you don’t have to deal with it. Do you like messing with network settings (as you have to in the BlackBerry browser, every time you switch between Hotspot and BlackBerry Browser profile, etc.)? If you do, Wicked is not for you ;)
“I don’t like people… and why are you reading my public blog? How dare you leave a comment on my blog, and use social media for social things!” - Wicked has social features – you can see who’s around you. You can interact with them based on physical and social context. This is great if a group of bloggers go to a conference and need to interact with each other quickly, and from one app. You can even update your Twitter status straight from the app. Don’t need these feature? No worries, stick with the free stuff. Wicked is not for you ;) “I like to get nickel and dimed. I like to have to pay extra for support, and for upgrades.” – With a subscription model, we are delivering the best value to you that we can for the best price that we can. Instead of charging you for upgrades every time a new version or feature is available, you get it all included in your subscription fee. As we add more features you can’t live without, it’s not going to cost you anymore. And don’t forget phone and email support is included in this fee. Like to be nickel and dimed? Wicked is not for you ;)
“I’ve never seen your app nor have I used it, but I’m sure it sucks.” - Try it before you knock it :) . Try using Wicked’s post editor, and try its attachment handling. Try its comment and post slice/dice intelligent filters, and find bar. Try assigning tags/categories with it. If you have 100s of tags/cats, have 100s of comments/posts, then you will feel how productive you can be in Wicked. We have worked very very very hard to make this a powerful app; don’t let its good looks fool you for a second ;) “I don’t trust this new fangled Internets and tubes or them phones and such?” – We strive to deliver the best user experience on the latest/greatest hardware/software platform. You paid a lot of money for your new BlackBerry and its data plan; we want to leverage its capabilities to the max, so you get the most value out of it! Twitter integration is available seamlessly. Camera integration is available with 1-Click. If you like seamless workflows, and task oriented user interfaces, then you will LOVE Wicked.
“I love ‘support by discussion forum’, being ignored, being treated like crap.” – We believe in unparalleled customer service and support. We care about our customers, treat them with respect, and listen to them – quickly and meaningfully. Within 2 wks of the beta being out, we implemented major changes in the functionality based on user feedback. We answer questions that our customers have 24/7, within 30 minutes or less. We’ve been on the phone and IM and twitter with them helping them setup their blogs, that weren’t configured correctly, due to no fault of our own. We have excellent documentation and detailed videos on how to use every single feature of the app. Don’t like great support, great documentation, and excellence in customer service? Wicked is not for you ;) . “I really don’t know what looks good; I solely rely on Apple/Steve Jobs to tell me what I should be drooling over this week. Also, I keep installing random apps, and my BlackBerry keeps getting slower.” – If you like installing apps that consume all the CPU/memory/network on your device, causing you random lockups and frequent device wipes, then Wicked is not for you ;) . The app is stunningly beautiful (especially when compared to most BB apps out there); if you don’t care about aesthetics and performance, then stick with the free stuff. Even error messages in Wicked are friendly – they don’t just dump some random error code on your screen, they provide you with solutions! Love doing Google searches for random error codes? Wicked is not for you ;)
